Welcome to Whimsy Childcare

At Whimsy Childcare, we follow a nature-based, Reggio-inspired approach that encourages open-ended play, hands-on exploration, and a strong connection to the land. We draw from Alberta’s Flight: Early Learning and Care Framework to guide children’s learning through their natural curiosity, imagination, and relationships with others. Our motto is “Nurturing Joyful Hearts and Curious Minds.”

Whimsy is more than just childcare—it’s a place where children are seen, heard, and celebrated for who they are. We blend purposeful play with nature-rich experiences, inclusive practices, and family-style meals to create a warm, welcoming environment. Our rooms are thoughtfully designed with natural materials, and our educators are intentional in creating meaningful learning experiences that follow the children’s interests.

We care for children from 12 months to 5 years old before entering Kindergarten. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to support infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in age-appropriate ways.

Yes, we offer both! While full-time spots are more commonly available, we do our best to accommodate families needing part-time care, depending on current enrollment and room availability.

Whimsy Childcare is open Monday to Friday from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. We close for all statutory holidays and take a two-week break over the Christmas season, with limited care available during the second week for families who need it. To support our educators in providing the best possible care and learning experiences, we also close one Friday every other month for professional development, planning, and deep cleaning.
